The National Jury for the India Education Awards met recently at Delhi on
18th July 2009 to finalize the Zonal and National level winners. The National
Jury comprised of eminent educationists and government officials.
MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL JURY
Dr. A. K. Sharma Former Director of the National Council for
Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and a well known educationist, involved in educational reforms in
India and abroad.
Dr. M. A. Siddiqui
Chairperson, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and Former Dean, Department of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia,
who has authored numerous books and articles on education.
Mr. Subhash Khuntia
IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, School Education, Government of India, a visionary who has an in
depth understanding of school education.
Dr. G. L. Arora
Former Head, Department of Teacher Education, NCERT, New Delhi and Former Director, SCERT.
Dr. Kanta Vadehra
Head School Education, British Council. She has been responsible for all school programmes in India.
Dr. Neerja Sharma
Associate Professor, Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, who as a professor of Human Development
and Childhood Studies believes strongly in Quality in Education.
Process of selection went through three stages. The short listing was done be the selection committee which comprised of Principals and members from Government Departments of Education. The National Jury then finalized the selection.
