The EQFI India Education Awards for Excellence in Education Award Ceremony were
held on 13th April, 2010 to recognize outstanding work in the field of
education by Teachers, School Leaders, Schools and NGO’s. To congratulate the innovators
and recognize their dedication and commitment to education, National Winners from
all over India were invited to New Delhi and Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman CBSE
who was the Chief Guest for the occasion, graciously gave out the awards.
Over 10,000 applications were received under all categories and underwent three
stages of evaluation, the final scrutiny being done by an eminent jury comprising
of educationists from all over India of both the Government and Private sector.
The National Jury comprised of Dr. M. A. Siddiqui, Chairperson of National Council
for Teacher Education, Mr Subhash Khuntia, Joint Secretary, School Education, MHRD,
Dr. G. L. Arora, Former Director, Teacher Education, NCERT, Dr. Kanta Vadhera,
Head of School Education, British Council, Dr. A. K. Sharma, Former Director of
NCERT and, Dr. Neerja Sharma, Associate Professor , Lady Irwin College, New Delhi.
Plenary Session
The morning session brought together some of the most innovative and motivated educators
from both the government and private sector. Dr. Anjlee Prakash, Chairperson, EQFI
initiated the session by sharing with the audience the process of selection of the
winners and also an update on the various projects undertaken by EQFI.
The special Guest Speakers for the morning were Dr. M. A. Siddiqui - Chairperson,
National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and Dr. Neerja Sharma, Associate Professor,
Lady Irwin College, Delhi University. Dr. Siddiqui spoke on the need for " Quality
for all in Education " and expressed the need for using diversity as an important
classroom resource to enrich teaching " a learning process which brings focus
on the inclusive environment of multicultural classroom settings ". Dr. Neerja
Sharma discussed the role of the teachers in providing a sense of well - being for
each child. This was followed by some excellent interactive presentations by heads
of schools and NGO's.

Dr. Anjlee Prakash, Chairperson, EQFI warmly welcomed the chief guest for the evening,
Mr Vineet Joshi, CBSE Chairman and other esteemed dignitaries. In her address she
shared her vision for excellence in educational standards all over India and described
how EQFI was working to achieve that.
Dr. M. A. Siddique and Dr. A. K. Sharma greatly appreciated the initiatives taken by EQFI
in instituting the awards for schools and teachers and recognizing excellence in
school education.

The Chief Guest for the evening Mr Vineet Joshi, CBSE Chairman, presented the winners
with their awards and spoke powerfully on there being " no compromise on quality
in education " He said " every child today is born with a mouse and in a highly
connected environment. Unfortunately, when they go to schools they get completely
disconnected. Teachers need to be more interactive, to be clickable teachers which is why
CCE has been introduced ".
